BOSTON COMMUNITY CENTER |

|
Boston Center began 103 years ago as a one-room school and has a long history of the community coming together to, first of all, building the school and providing everything the school and community needed. When the school was consolidated, the children were sent to both the Branson school district and the Reeds Spring school district. The school building set empty for quite a few years until the community once again joined together to remodel the school that was showing a real need if it was to be saved. Throughout the 103 years the community has made sure the building was taken care of. In 2000 Charlie Jones bought a brand new all steel building for Boston Center. But before the building was erected, there had to be a source of water and a septic system installed. Now the new building holds a kitchen, dining room, and bathrooms (there were still outhouses until the new building was finished). The doors were opened for the yearly Christmas dinner and get-together. It was amazing to see the looks on the peoples faces in the community when they saw their new building for the first time. As we do every year, we had an old-fashioned Christmas dinner with music and gifts....and yes, Santa came too! It was a joyous occasion for everyone of all ages. On the first Saturday night of every month (except when there is a holiday....then it's the second Saturday night) at 6 p.m. we have potluck (bring a dish of your choice). Every other month we have our house band, Rio Pearl, that plays music in the old school building. They play a variety of music and you can be sure someone will get up and dance. Some times musicians traveling through town or musicians from the music shows in Branson come by to jam too!
